When we first started using existing link shorteners, we quickly realized that they all focused on a single function—getting a user from point A to point B after clicking a link. But for business automation professionals like us, a short link is never just a link—it's a key part of a larger workflow, often embedded in sophisticated no-code processes.
The real challenge? The "brains" of these workflows still needed to be built in third-party automation platforms. There was no link shortener designed to enhance and simplify business automation itself. That's when we had our breakthrough idea: what if the short URL wasn't just a redirect tool but a smart automation component in its own right?
Roo is the first URL shortener built by automation professionals, for automation professionals. Our background in business automation and no-code meant we understood exactly what was missing.
We were the first team in Israel to build an app for Zapier back in 2013, and since then, we've been deeply engaged in the automation and no-code space. At first, we built Roo for our own team—because if we found it useful, we knew other automation professionals and business process designers would too.
Originally, Roo was just an internal tool to solve our own workflow challenges. But as we developed it, we saw the incredible automations it enabled. We started talking with other business automation and no-code professionals even before there was a product, gathering feedback to shape Roo into a tool that would generate real value for their clients.
By making business processes easier, more powerful, and more flexible, Roo wasn't just a link shortener anymore—it was an automation enabler.
Building Roo came with its challenges. One of the biggest was maintaining speed while adding intelligence. Traditional link shorteners simply send users from one point to another, but Roo needed to:
All of this had to happen instantly, without slowing down the user experience. That was our core technical challenge—and we solved it.
We launched Roo in beta with a small group of early users alongside our own team, and the response was overwhelmingly positive. Beta users loved Roo's simplicity, its focus on automation, and our hands-on support. Many of them called it the best URL shortener they've ever used.
Today, with more than 51,000 links shortened and an amazing feedback from the automation professionals already using Roo - we know that we're solving a real problem. And we're just getting started!
We have big plans for Roo, and we're constantly improving it based on feedback from automation professionals like you. Some of our most exciting upcoming features include:
